Little Rat [DEMO]

A short, atmospheric visual novel inspired by Celtic folklore. 

A young rat wakes up in a forest eerily familiar, she follows a beautiful white horse off the trail and onto numerous dirt paths that twist and turn into multiple directions. As she travels along, she is followed by the voice of her sister who died years prior, warning her to stay away. The young rat, who cant seem to grasp the voice talking to her, continues to follow the horse through the tall trees.

As she journeys through, she begins to remember another voice that once spoke to her, specifically years ago, before her sister went missing. 

The next time she sees the horse something about its appearance seems foul... a sickly-sweet stench emanates from it and debris from the undergrowth cling to its hooves as if they were coated in sticky molasses. 

As she remembers more and more, she begins to regret the decisions she made in the past, a sense of dread washing over her.

The horse's lustrous looks keep degrading as the forest gets progressively scarier. The rat notices that the voice she remembered belonged to the horse as it talking to her, coaxing her to follow it. The sister's voice rings in her ears trying to keep her away, but the memories of that horrid night keep flashing through the rat's mind. She can't escape the guilt of being let go while her sister was killed. 

The chaos of her mind settles as she finds herself at a river and she stares into the water. She thought she saw the reflection of her sister on the other side of the river, but when she looks up, she is face-to-face with the beast, it's true self revealed-- a trickster, an abductor, a killer.

Hi! I'm Lily also known as Chookums. I love character design and animals. I was responsible for designing the characters and environment concepts for the game! I'm currently studying to work as a concept artist but I also will take the occasional design commission.

My name is Ellie, I'm a 19 year old studying in Australia for 3D Animation, I made the story script, the 3D models, UV unwrapped them, textured them and did the scene layouts for Little Rat.
